- Ian Carver interview with Again Faster
In April of 2009, Jon Gilson from Again Faster approached me asking if I woul dbe willing to do an interview about CrossFit and it’s implementation in Law Enforcement. I willingly accepted the offer and had a great talk with Jon about how I came into CrossFit and how we have implemented it into my LE workplace. The basis of the article was that CrossFit is not only a terrific tool for getting fit and using it’s skills on an athletic level, but also as a means to provide a tremendously functional carry-over of fitness and strength into real world combat and public safety situations. Often times we forget the deeper meaning and usefulness of CrossFit as it relates to the jobs of those who go into harms way for others. The job is fraught with peril and danger and whatever tools we can use to mitigate those risks should be employed. CrossFit has earned a spot on my duty belt along with the rest of my gear.
In combat, there is no “second place” – there are only winners and losers. Losing is irreversible and not an option.
I hope you enjoy the article and if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to email me or leave a comment.
A bit thank you goes out to Jon Gilson for his support and time.
